Description

. Empowerment of Women and Girls and Social Support

  • Women and Girls Empowerment Centers: Providing a safe environment and support for women and girls to develop their personal and professional skills.
  • Awareness Activities and Community Campaigns: Organizing events to raise awareness about issues such as Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Child Protection (CP), including guidance and psychosocial support.
  • Training Programs: Offering workshops and training programs on managing domestic violence, child protection, and teaching parenting skills.

2. Psychosocial Support and Mentorship Programs

  • Individual and Group Psychosocial Support: Providing counseling sessions and psychosocial support for individuals affected by violence or trauma.
  • Specialized MHPSS (Mental Health and Psychosocial Support) Services: Offering specialized mental health and psychosocial support for individuals in need of additional care.
  • Mentorship and Support Programs: Providing mentorship programs such as "Big Sisters/Little Sisters" to help women and girls develop their life skills.

3. Training, Education, and Skill Enhancement

  • Economic Empowerment Skills Programs: Teaching women and girls practical skills that contribute to their economic independence, such as vocational and business skills.
  • Language and Literacy Courses, and Life Skills: Providing education in literacy and numeracy, as well as life skills courses, including effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Awareness and Training on Prevention and Response: Training community members and caregivers on how to address issues of violence and child protection.

4. Community Protection and Social Cohesion

  • Protection and Support Hotlines: Offering phone lines and counselors to assist victims of sexual violence or exploitation, and providing emergency tools such as "Dignity Kits."
  • Community Safety Audits and Risk Assessments: Conducting assessments to identify risks faced by individuals in violence-prone communities.
  • Peacebuilding and Social Cohesion Activities: Organizing peacebuilding committees and programs to promote peaceful coexistence and social integration within communities.

These services are available for All Citizens including Internally displaced persons, Returnees and Host community in Erbil Governorate, especially in Koya District.

This project is ongoing until End of Dec 2025.

All services are free.
